PATS' Thanksgiving Food Drive A Success

Paducah Area Transit System's Annual Spirit of Thanksgiving Food Drive was once again a huge success! PATS passengers were allowed to ride fixed route buses by simply donating a non-perishable food item Monday and Tuesday, November 24th and 25th. Wednesday, November 26th, PATS delivered the food to Paducah Cooperative Ministry at 402 Legion Drive, adding to their food pantry, just in time for Thanksgiving Day. Several large crates of food were delivered, thanks to the generosity of PATS riders, and PATS employees, who also donated food.

Allen Raley and Bruce Devoe delivered the canned goods to PCM from PATS riders and employees. "It's the time of year to be thankful, and we're thankful for what we have at PATS," said PATS Executive Director Kim Adair. "We're just trying to help others. Even though that's what we do every day, this time of year is a special time. We try to do a little bit more."

Heidi Suhrheinrich, Executive Director of Paducah Cooperative Ministry thanks PATS, saying the donation came at a great time. Paducah Cooperative Ministry is an inter-faith ministry founded in 1973 by and for local congregations. Among PCM's services are groceries for families in need, emergency "meals on wheels" for elderly and at-risk individuals recovering from hospitalization, emergency assistance, and shelter for the homeless.
